Beth and I are putting our heads together to provide this information.

The store was called Daves' and initially opened as a butcher shop. We don't know when it was opened, but it was in operation during our early childhood. Our uncle Reuben worked in the store with our grandmother after our grandfather passed away. The store was open in the 1950's and closed probably in 1957 or 1958. We have many memories of going to the store with our dad and grandmother.

We used to go to the store regularly on Saturday evening and Sunday morning, when she would work on the bookkeeping. We used to enjoy dipping our hands into the penny candy jars, and were even allowed to help with the sale of the penny candy when we visited the store when it was open.

I do recall some of the store customers referring to our grandmother as Mrs. Dave, and who requested to purchase items on "credit" which she provided. I think that the
