Reva was my mother, Birdie Jean my sister. Jean met Bill Martin at Washington University in St. Louis where she was Dandelion Queen. They married and had four children: Pamela, Monica, Matthew and Millie. Bill & Jean divorced. Jean had another daughter, Sandi. Later, Jean moved to California and married Bud Shaw, a Los Angeles Sheriff's Deputy. Jean and Bud took a road trip in 1975 to Phoenix, picked up Nikki (Monica) and took her to Denver to attend court reporter's school. Then they drove to Albuquerque where they watched their friend, Shelley Berman perform. Upon leaving Albuquerque to return home, Bud said his pickup hit a rain-slickened spot, overturned and Jean was thrown out and killed. She was 47.
