After being discharged from the Navy in 1945, Marietta and Louis moved back to Kansas from Norfolk, VA. Shortly afterwards, Louis started the Imperial Garage. Marietta would answer the phones while baby Les (born 1947) was crying in the background.
This was a corner he knew well. The garage was next to the Phillips 66 station he used to work and across the street from Odessa Meat Market where he was the delivery boy.
