Bernard Steinlauf's 1st wife, Reisla Goldberger died young in Poland. His second wife, Frieda Brand passed away during the flu epidemic of 1918. He had not yet married his 3rd wife, Lizzie Shenbaum, a Romanian lady. She passed away in 1939. Bernard sold the house and boarded with the Shatz family nearby. He continued to board and found a room with people who lived across the street from Sarah and family. He later was placed in the Orthodox Jewish Home for the Aged. He passed away in 1958.

Baby Rose is seated in photo and was later sent to live in the Marks Nathan Home for Children in Chicago.

David and Anne are not pictured. They were sent to live with the Brand family in Texas when their mother passed away.

Sarah, at the age of 16 took care of and cooked for the family for those four years until her marriage in 1922.
