Bernard Steinlauf's 2nd wife, Frieda Brand passed away during the flu epidemic of 1918. Baby Rose is seated in photo and was later sent to live in the Marks Nathan Home for Children in Chicago. David and Anne were sent to live with the Brand family in Texas. Sarah(then at the age of 16) took care of and cooked for the family until her marriage in 1922. Bernard then married Lizzie, a Romanian lady. She passed away in 1939. Bernard sold the house and boarded with the Shatz family nearby. He continued to board and found a room with people who lived across the street from Sarah and family. He later was placed in the Orthodox Jewish Home for the Aged. He passed away in 1958.
