This pic was sent to Libbi Cohn from Odessa, Russia. Esther is scarred along the left side of her face and neck. At the age of 3 she had tipped over a pot of hot chicken broth and scalded herself. Her hearing was forever impaired in that ear. At that time they had open fires with hanging pots.

Neither one of the girls ever married. Dvore, the youngest was so devoted to her older sister that she vowed not to marry until her older sister married even though she was proposed to several xs. They ended up living together for the rest of their lives.

They orig lived in the shtetl of Zayivka in the Ukraine which was near Odessa until Stalin started enforcing collectivization. The gov would seize peoples land and animals. So Avrum Shloima anticipated the future and sold everything and moved to Odessa.
