Greyhound Bus Station Wabash & Roosevelt Rd, Chicago.
Berl Steinlauf with his nieces Jennie Blonder (almost 50 years old) and Rose Marcus (almost 40 years old) (sisters). Bus to NY City. 1937 or 38, Grandpa is seeing them off on their way to Poland to see relatives there. They returned to America before the borders were closed. Rose and Jennie were born there but returned for visits more than once.

The reason they went to Europe to try and save the family from the oncoming war. They were not successful.

Hi Todd,
Thank you for sending the photo of my Grandma Jenny, and her sister Rose ready to leave for their trip to Poland. Jenny and her son (and my father), Leo paid for her journey.

    Thank you for your reply, which was really helpful! I am working on a tree of Blonders from Western Galicia (mainly Brzesko area) and they were closely related to Steinlaufs from the same area.

    Particularly interesting was this photo from your Steinlauf album:

    It is of Jennie Blonder (nee Steinlauf) who married her cousin Salamon. Berl is noted to be her uncle, so presumably her mother Freida's brother? Did the Blonders and Steinlaufs of Chicago area mix socially? I suppose they must have...

    It's a very interesting photo for our Blonder tree: do you mind if I use it? For the Steinlauf part of our tree I will not duplicate your effort but link in to your tree on Ancestry.

    I'd be very happy to be in touch with your wife and aunt, especially if they know about the Blonders going back to the old country Brzesko/Galicia -- or if I can be of any assistance to them with Blonder ancestry. Would it be of interest to you to view my Blonder tree. It mainly has family relationships with few pictures and stories I'm afraid... I do have contact with various Blonders from Illinois and elsewhere too.
