When she was three (the family story goes), she turn a pot of chicken soup on herself and burned part of her face and her chest. Her other part was very pretty but she was very aware of her “ugliness and deformity” and never married. She lived all her life with their mother and younger sister Dvosia (Dosia) who was very devoted to her and did not want to leave her even though she had some marriage proposals.
