Dearest uncle and aunt,
I begin my letter by letting you know that we are feeling fine and hope for you, uncle and aunt, that God grant you good health. I received your letter and the enclosed $15.00 and thank you for it many many times. May God be with you and for your writing to your cousin in Texas who, through you, sent $10.00. You were the "messenger" and I thank you for that ever so much for your $15.00. You and your children should never be in need. The money gave great support. For each dollar that you sent me may God repay you $1,000.
Nowadays times are bad. I could have written much about it, (our situation) but it is unnecessary and you surely understand. May God look upon our unlucky Jews. In the meantime, one has to dance according to the tune. I do not worry so much about us two but about my 16 year old daughter who would like to go to the US. We don't have any other family anywhere else but you and the uncles in America. I heard that in 1939 there will be a trip that you will make to Poland so maybe you could take my child to America. I would be thankful. She is a beautiful and gifted girl. Please don't be angry with me that I permit myself to ask of you so much, uncle Shloyme but we have no other way out. She is a seamstress for ladies garments and would have no prospects for existence here. You would perform a big favor if you took her to America. I am sending you pictures of our 3 children. Please answer as soon as you can when you get my letter. Write how you all are.
I conclude my letter with best wishes and kisses from me, who hopes to hear from you soon.
Yours,
Chaim Hersh Brand and family
