Dearest uncle, aunt, and cousin,
First of all, I would like to tell you that we are fine and in good health and may God grant you the best. Dear uncle, I thank you for your letter and enclosed 5 dollars. The money was of big help. I wish I could thank you personally, but this is impossible. Also, thank you for the picture which is dearer than the money. I appreciate it so much that you remember me. Dear uncle Shloyme, you are asking if I am receiving anything from Texas from my cousin. I can tell you that I wrote them some time ago. I never got an answer so I stopped writing to them. I ‘m sure that they had received my letter otherwise it would have been returned to me. If I knew that they would answer I would write them but I do not know. They annot grasp or imagine for themselves my circumstances. If they knew what bad times there are here, I’m certain they would have cared. If they cannot help me they could have at least written a few comforting words. Please do me a favor and write them a postcard. Take the trouble to write to me a few words also. It will be a big mitzvah for them and me.
We live in fear that Hitler should come here, God forbid. We suffer enough from this country. Business is slow, you cannot imagine. I wish we would be able to get away and nothing bad should happen.
Dear uncle, anut and cousin, please excuse me for writing such a long letter and taking up your time but I do not have any family in Poland anymore. You, dear uncle, are the only one who still remembers me, my wife and cousin and I can talk to you sincerely from the heart so it gets easier. So please write often what’s new by you. I wish you all the best and I and my wife and children send our regards. We hope to hear from you.
