My dear father,

Please forgive me for answering you sooner. I thank you for your lovely letter but as soon as I read the letter my heart ached to learn that you were ill. My dear daddy, I do hope that with God’s help you are well again and write again about the state of your health. I did not feel well because of my rheumatism and arthritis. My husband has trouble with his leg and has a cold. All this is due to his hard livelihood but we thank God for everything.

Now it has gotten worse for the Jews in Germany. God forbid it should not happen the same here in Poland. I believe that in America they know everything from the newspapers about what they did to the Jews. There are thousands of Jews in barracks in Poznan near the border and Poland does not want to admit anyone. People suffer there from hunger and cold. May God have mercy upon them and us Jews. It is very bad and who knows what will happen in Poland. I have my fill too. One of my husband’s sisters, her husband and six children are sitting on the border in the barracks. I am sending food packages because they write it is a big grief. So, what can I do? May God help me.

Dear daddy, may you stay healthy and live to 120. I know it was an unfortunate letter that I wrote to you about my daughter and she should come to America. She would like to come over there. I ask my beloved sisters there to take care of it so that my child should be able to come to America. There is nothing here for her to do. She is a diligent worker and will not be a burden to anybody. She is a beautiful girl and of good health, thank God. Dear daddy, I am asking you and my sisters to do that for me. If she is there she will help me in my old age because my husband Zemme and I are too sick.

Are my sisters angry with me? Why, I do not know. I am now asking my brother there to take care of it. If you tell them they will listen to you. And you, da
